KOLKATA CHAI
£7.00
This is a punchy blend of strong black Assam tea and whole spices including fresh ginger, star anise, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves.
It’s made from a family recipe by the Chota Tingrai Estate in Assam. Spices are sourced from farms across India and then added to the tea whole, with some crushed slightly to improve the brewing.
🌱 HOW IT'S MADE
This tea is made by combining black Assam tea and whole spices. The black tea is made using CTC ("cut, tea, curl") machines which shred the leaf into tiny particles and produce small pieces. CTC tea is traditionally used to make masala chai because it is an affordable, quick brewing, strong flavoured tea.
☕️ Brewing suggestions
This chai is delicious simmered in milk and sugar the traditional way, and then strained to remove the leaves. Or brew this tea with freshly boiled water (allow two teaspoons of chai per 250ml of water) and then add milk and sugar to taste.
