ASSAM GREEN
TASTING NOTES: Vegetal, earthy, smoky
Assam Green is a unique offering from the lush tropical plains of northeast India. It's made from the broad, rubbery leaves of the indigenous variety of the tea plant- the Camellia sinensis assamica- which has grown in the jungles of Assam for centuries.
Unlike lighter more delicate green teas, this one is seductive, earthy and mellow. Behind its nutty flavour lies a smokiness and a little spice. On the second or third infusion, this tea gives a mellow sweetness and a certain lingering heat.
This tea is made from leaves grown by a small holder farmer in the upper reaches of Assam using all natural methods, free from chemical and fertilizers. It was then processed using the traditional green tea method by the acclaimed Heritage Tea factory by first steaming the leaves, hand rolling and then panning to retain the flavoursome enzymes.
A beautifully complex and alluring green tea.
